Sorry, I’m Not Sorry for Not Calling You Back

How to maximize your time so you can reach your goals.

We all get 24 hours in one day – no more, no less.

So how is it that some people are able to maximize that time to create great wealth and success while others struggle to even do the basics during that same time frame?

Ever wonder what their secret is?

I’ll tell you: Time maximizers ruthlessly and radically cut out unnecessary distractions. This means they aren’t afraid to say “no” to people, things, and events that waste their time and energy.

Think about all the distractions you encounter each and every day: Facebook messages, outrage and scare tactics from the news, seemingly urgent projects, phone calls from people who want to “just pick your brain,” etc.

And the list goes on. These things waste your energy, leaving you feeling sapped and drained, with little desire to focus on the things that really matter.

So, how can you maximize the time you have? It’s simple.

To reach a breakthrough point in your life, you have to take a stance against time wasters.

Ultimately, it’s up to you to own your schedule and do focused, deep work to get the important stuff done.

Now for the less comfortable part: Owning your schedule will mean making hard choices and disappointing others sometimes. It will mean saying to the “I just want to pick your brain for a few moments” person:

“Sorry, I’m not sorry for not calling you back.” And that’s okay.

Bottom line

When you’re on a mission, you simply don’t have time to waste. And you know what? Like-minded people will understand that. But the difference is that you’ll actually want to talk to those people because their energy will fuel your fire and keep you energized in turn.

Ultimately, keep your eyes fixed on your goals, and put distractions on the back burner.

So, checking Facebook at 2 a.m. when you should be sleeping? No to that.

Binge-watching mindless shows? Same thing.

Watching the news when you know it makes you feel anxious and helpless? Nope.

On the other hand, spending that time you’ve saved with your loved ones? Hell yes.

Reading, exercising, working on your goals? Absolutely.

So, here’s your assignment:

If you never seem to have enough time to do what you need to do, try this: Prioritize what matters most, say “no” to unimportant time wasters, and watch your life change.
